内容提要：
中国需要发展。但中国在发展过程中的一些行为被西方误认为威胁甚至扩张。为什么会出现这种情况？所谓横看成岭侧成峰，这次讲座的目的是“从望远镜的两端看同样的现象”。讲座意在从适当的背景出发，理解西方人的担忧，即西方社会兴起的危机感。而这也是理解中西方社会中相互间的不安全感和紧张情绪的必要途径。
China needs to develop. But some of its actions are misinterpreted in the West – as threatening or even expansionist. Why is this? This talk aims to look at the same phenomenon from both ends of the telescope. It is proposed that understanding Western concerns within a proper context – the rise of the risk perception society in the West – is necessary to understand respective insecurities and tensions.
