报告内容简介：
More than 3,000 hydropower dams across the world are currently under construction. Many of them have been associated with enormous social and environmental impacts that have resulted in declining fish productivity downstream, and shattered livelihoods. These problems repeat themselves in one dam after another. The presentation explores ways in which planning could begin to address these problems and offer solutions to the need for energy, food, and sustainability.
主讲人简介：
Emilio F. Moran is John A. Hannah Professor at Michigan State University, associated with the Center for Global Change and Earth Observations, the Center for System Integration and Sustainability, and the Department of Geography, Environment and Spatial Sciences. He was until 2012 Distinguished Professor and the James H. Rudy Professor of Anthropology at Indiana University, Professor of Environmental Sciences, Adjunct Professor of Geography, and Director of the Anthropological Center for Training and Research on Global Environmental Change (ACT) at Indiana University.
Dr. Moran is the author of eleven books, fifteen edited volumes and more than 200 journal articles and book chapters. His research has been supported by NSF, NIH, NOAA and NASA for the past two decades. He is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London, Fellow of the American Anthropological Association and the Society for Applied Anthropology, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2010.He has been appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the National Science Board of the National Science Foundation in 2016.
His work combines the natural and social sciences to understand human-environment interactions.“I hope that my long history of interdisciplinary research linking the natural and the social sciences will bring useful insights to the discussions of the complex science issues and problems that society faces that require a diverse range of disciplines,” Moran said.
