Short Bio
Xiang Gao is associate professor of Government at Zhejiang University. She focuses on Chinese Local Government in recent years and has a special interest in describing and explaining local government's innovation in rural development, social management and democratic governance. She is the co-author of the book From State-Led Development to Endogenous Development: Redefining Rural and Agricultural Development in China (April, 2013). Her article have appeared in such journals as Daedalus：the Journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Australian Journal of Public Administration, Social Sciences in China and Chinese Public Adminstration.
