Topic: Interactivity in Information Searching and Design. Two Overlapping Research Strands

Speaker: Preben Hansen

Time: 2pm, Dec.6,2018

Venue: Room 122, Mengminwei BLDG

Abstract:

This communication will cover two of Preben Hansen's research areas. Preben Hansen take an interdisciplinary approach to research and focus on two overlapping strands: information seeking and information retrieval and Human-Computer Interaction, especially Interaction Design. Within the first strand, the focus is on human-, task-, and contextual issues in different information-intensive domains such as the patent and crisis management areas. This also include developing theoretical models of information seeking and retrieval as well as on empirical studies of users and interactive systems. Within the second research strand, Preben Hansen explore creative design thinking processes and apply user-centered design approaches to design of services, systems and objects. The common and overlapping basic link is 'interaction' and as such, the two areas form an interconnected field of research creating synergies and mutual inspiration. Recent research has been on Collaborative Information Searching, Tourism information searching, Searching as Learning (SAL), gesture interaction, onSkin interaction, sustainable design, and humans interacting in blended spaces.
