Deepening International Cooperation, Promoting Academic Development — Delegation from the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia Visits for Exchange

On the afternoon of November 5, 2025, a four-member delegation from the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia, visited the School of Public Affairs (SPA) of Zhejiang University (ZJU). The two parties held an exchange seminar in Conference Room 311 of the SPA, conducting in-depth discussions on academic cooperation, talent cultivation, and other topics, and reaching multiple consensuses.


The delegation was composed of Prof. Dr. Retno Kusumastuti (Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Milla S. Setyowati (Vice Dean), Dr. Eko Sakapurnama (Head of the Postgraduate Program), and Dr. Krisna Puji Rahmayanti (Coordinator for Academic and Global Partnership). Prof. Zhao Zhirong (Dean of the SPA, ZJU), Prof. Gong Binlei (Vice Dean), Prof. Shen Wei (from the Department of Political Science), Shao Ming (Deputy Director of the Postgraduate Teaching Management Office), and Lin Lu (International Affairs Secretary) warmly received the delegation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Zhao Zhirong delivered a welcome speech, extending a warm welcome to the delegation. He briefly introduced ZJU’s school orientation, comprehensive strength, as well as the SPA’s disciplinary advantages and development status. He also shared his recent exchange experiences with multiple universities in Singapore, emphasizing the significant role of international academic exchanges in disciplinary development. Additionally, Dean Zhao highlighted the proposal of inviting Universitas Indonesia to join the upcoming Good Governance Asia Alliance, aiming to jointly promote academic research and practical innovation in the field of governance in Asia.


Subsequently, the delegation from the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia, provided a detailed introduction to the university’s founding history, disciplinary layout, and international influence. They focused on sharing the faculty’s characteristics and achievements in teaching and research, talent cultivation, and international cooperation, enabling the Chinese side to gain a deeper understanding of Universitas Indonesia’s educational philosophy and development strengths.


Based on the friendly exchanges, the two parties held a signing ceremony. Representatives from Universitas Indonesia formally signed the invitation letter, solemnly inviting Dean Zhao Zhirong to attend a series of international conferences in Indonesia, laying a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation. After the signing, all participants took a group photo to commemorate this important moment of exchange.

Following the signing ceremony, Vice Dean Gong Binlei made a supplementary introduction on behalf of the SPA, elaborating on the school’s research directions, academic platforms, and international journal development. He emphasized the SPA’s research advantages and international cooperation achievements, actively encouraging the two parties to carry out joint research projects. He also welcomed Indonesian students to submit manuscripts to international journals cooperating with the SPA, or pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in China, so as to deepen academic cooperation through joint training and co-publishing papers.

In the free discussion session, the two parties conducted in-depth exchanges on future cooperation intentions. The Chinese side proposed taking the Summer School as the starting point for cooperation, enhancing students’ understanding and recognition of each other’s institutions through short-term academic exchanges, cultural experiences, and other activities. Meanwhile, the Chinese side detailed various scholarship policies for international students in China, warmly welcoming outstanding students from Universitas Indonesia to pursue postgraduate studies in China and achieve personal academic growth relying on the high-quality educational resources of both universities. The Indonesian side highly recognized the Chinese side’s cooperation proposals, and the two parties also exchanged specific opinions on co-hosting international academic conferences, promoting teacher and student exchanges, and reached initial cooperation consensuses. At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged characteristic gifts to convey sincere friendship. The gifts carried the good wishes of both universities and symbolized the beautiful vision of deepening cooperation and moving forward hand in hand.

The visit of the delegation from the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Indonesia, has built a direct communication bridge for the relevant faculties of the two universities, enhanced mutual understanding and trust, and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent development of regular and in-depth international cooperation. Both parties stated that they will take this seminar as a starting point, accelerate the implementation of cooperation, enrich cooperation forms and expand cooperation areas in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and academic exchanges, so as to achieve complementary advantages and common development, and contribute to the academic progress in the fields of administrative science, policy, and governance studies.
