Zhejiang University Environmental and Energy Policy Center (EEPC) was created in January 2014. It is a research institution that seeks a cross-disciplinary integration of public administration, public policy, environment and resources, energy engineering, economics, management, and legal studies, drawing upon their disciplinary advantages at Zhejiang University, with main focuses on the relationship between environment and energy, public policy of environment and energy, environmental governance, industrial policy of environment and energy, green productivity and competitiveness.

Since the reforms and opening up, China has made remarkable achievements in socio-economic development. Over the process of rapid transformation, land and real estate have emerged as the hot spots of concern for the society. During the transition period, the Institute of Land Science and Property at Zhejiang University is well positioned in scientific research, talent cultivation and social service on land and property management. The institute focuses on fundamental and prospective theoretical issues of land resources, carries out research on land and property management, formulates policy proposals for national and local governments periodically, and continues to enrich and develop the ideology, theory, strategy and institution of land management with Chinese characteristics. In terms of talent cultivation, the institute undertakes graduate teaching for doctoral and master students of land resource management and masters of public administration, as well as fosters high-level research talents and young technical experts. Finally in terms of social service, the institute integrates research resources and provides powerful decision support to the state, local governments and enterprises on the development of land and property management.

Taiwan Research Institute of Zhejiang University(abbreviated as TRI) is one of the earliest established academic institutions of Taiwan studies among nationwide universities and colleges. It was proposed by Mr Lu Yongxiang, the former president of Zhejiang University. And by 1991, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC, TRI was successfully established. Over the past years, a lot of well-known scholars and experts like Wang Qidong, Wu Guohua, Zhang Junsheng ,Huang Shumeng and Wang Zaixi have successively acted as directors of the institute.
Basing on Zhejiang University’s research capability as well as resources inside and outside the college, TRI concentrates on Taiwan’s politics, economy and culture. Its goals are to study significant events that influenced cross-strait relations and follow the guidance of central officeto carry academic exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan. By far, TRI has achieved gratifying successes and become an important research and training institute concerning Taiwan affairs. Recently, TRI has taken advantages of the disciplines of Zhejiang University, drawing a great amount of experts and scholars who are famous both at home and abroad together, to focus on the innovation of Taiwan research. At the meantime, TRI has devoted to play the role of a think-tank, and provided many research reports for Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, such as Some strategic thoughts about the solutions of Taiwan Issues. In the future, TRI will enhance its capability of research and training function, trying to contribute more to promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
The Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) was founded by Zhejiang University and it's under the direct lead of the university. The main purpose of its foundation is to exert the superiority of research in agricultural and rural modernization as well as the advantage of research in regional economy. And the final purpose is to take active part in China's agricultural and rural modernization. The main functions of CARD are organizing research projects, scholastic communication, and training up high level talents, consultation for momentous decision, training of human resource, publishing the research works and spreading research performance. As to purpose of CARD, it will be developed as a superior, specialized, domestic-top-grade, world-famous institute for academic research and knowledge innovation which is able to solve complex problems in agricultural and rural modernization as well as in regional economy. Meanwhile, it will be a base of training up high level talents, a base of consulting for momentous decisions, a base of human resource training and international cooperation, and information exchange. CARD is a relatively independent entity under the leading of Zhejiang University. An approach called small entity but wide cooperation is adopted in its daily operation, which means that only a few of the key specialists are constant in CARD, most of the employees are mobilizing. Famous experts and specialists are hired as part-time researchers or consultants in CARD on the basis of research projects' requirement or CARD's development requirement. There are several research institutes in CARD. They are Institute of Rural & Agro-economy Development, Institute of Regional Development, Institute of Sustainable Development, Institute of Agro-Brand and Extension, Institute of Research for Farmer Cooperative, and so on.
The Social Security Research Center of Zhejiang University is established in 2015, based on the Social Security Research and Development Center of Zhejiang Province which is established in October 1998.The center is committed to building an influential platform in social security regulations, systems and policy research and government decision consulting in China.
As a multidisciplinary study institute, the Center has cooperated internal and external study force on management science, economics, law, sociology, and demography to intensively study issues on social security system reform in China. Important achievements have gained in researches of elderly protection, health protection, employment, protection for the disabled, welfare of women and children, income distribution, poverty alleviation, public health and public services, which have made positive contributions to the improvement of social security system in Zhejiang province, and even of the whole country.
The routine work of the center includes: (1) to set up some projects on theoretical and practical issues in the field of social security; (2) to carry out policy-making consulting services for central ministries and commissions and local governments; (3) to hold national academic conferences, seminars, and academic exchanges in the field of social security; (4) to hold “Zhejiang University Social Security Youth Forum” and to organize reading activities; (5) to undertake Zhejiang regional liaison work of Chinese Society of Social Security, and Social Security Professional Committee Secretariat of China Disability Research Society.
